Mina två favoritlooks från Kristallen

Har lika svårt att slita mig från båda dessa bilder. Måste bara titta titta titta på Arne och Lotta.

Nike

This took you SEVERAL YEARS?

So unimpressed.
Happy challenges are back though.
Runners, you know what this means.
Will soon post my first challenge for Nike+ runners in years.

Nike, you had a great thing going. Why keep deconstructing it?
Now, the team option is gone, an option that was so great, especially for not so competitive women who just wanted to add their few miles/kms to a team effort instead of pursuing victory on their own.

Reconsider. Bring it back.

More Shelter Island

Celebrities love Shelter Island because of the secluded anonymity there.
Still, I saw The Invisible Woman sunbathing. Top less.

Vanja and I re-enacted a pic from many summers past:

Joel and Anders did their thing.

Yesterday

Was on a boat with Ian, Julie and Lucinda. Then lunch.
Joel had lobster mac and cheese. For real.
Then beach. Then dinner at Candy Kitchen.
Was all so great.

Shelter Island

We rented a car and went to Shelter Island. Stopped on the way for lunch just like all the affluent people do on their way to the Hamptons.

So glad to be here.

Did you know I have the longest legs in Long Island?

Saw this, so we went. Loved it.

Spare me, Estée Lauder

The Lauder corporation launches their first scent in 10 years and they go with
"Modern Muse  - be an inspiration".

The concept of woman as muse is thankfully passé, dating back to a period in time when women were not considered to be on par with male artists and instead should be happy to just aid creative (and many not so creative) men's dreams and imagination.

Estée, please.
Name your scented water Estée instead, after a woman who was really in charge and an inspiration as such.

Muse?
No thanks.

It upsets me that you use millions of your advertising dollars and the talents of many many people to encourage me and women around me to settle for being the inspiration.
That's settling for too little.

Let us all aim for being the creatives instead. Even if what you're trying to sell us is just a fragrance. You're playing with our emotions and aspirations. You could do so much better. Try harder.

I imagine you had many, many meetings that led up to this name and tagline.
It scares me that you all thought this was the best possible idea.

Ps. I don't care that you used a model who's last name is Muse. Does not change one thing.

Evelyn Playground

If you have kids and go to New York, take them to Evelyn Playground in Union Square. So great and so close to Barnes & Noble. We also recommend the Moroccan Lentil soup at nearby Pret-a-Manger.

Writing advice that no one has asked for

No one can read what's just in your head, so get it out.
This is how you do it:

Observe
Reflect
Write
Re-write

That's it. Over and over ad infinitum.

SoHo

Walking with Vanja in SoHo we suddenly noticed massive commotion up the street. We had to stop and stare as a mob of photographers and people followed a single individual.

"Who is that?" Vanja asked me.

"Honey, it's Harrison Ford. You know Han Solo, Indiana Jones."

"Why are so many following him?"

"They want to take his picture, he's so famous."

"Isn't one pic enough?"

"Doesn't seem like it."

He was so hunted, it seemed awful. The scene made you think it was so awful to be famous on that level. To be hounded by photographers. To never be left alone. Sadly it also made you think the following thought: Where's my own camera when I need it??!?!?!?!?

Change at blog

Vanja says I should get photo approval from her and her siblings before posting. Fair enough.

This means you might see more of this face.
Only trouble with this is I won't be able to take the pics myself.  And the kids are not that into taking pics, especially not of me posing around famous spots in NYC.

Today explored Evelyn playground in Union Square.
Union Square is so much at the same time.
Today I had Hare Krishna chanting streaming into my
right ear while the other ear was welcoming a Chopin piano nocturne.
It was a most disharmonious mashup, but the fact that they both had equal rights of being heard in Union Square at the exact same moment kind of sums it up for me.
Go ahead - do your thing.

What the camera adds.

You know how people say "the camera adds 10 pounds"?

I say the camera adds or subtracts whatever it feels like. I've never noticed any consistency what so ever.

Another day at the playground

I agree she's the best view, but will he agree? Think he was looking forward to seeing Manhattan.

Racing Joel in Coney Island.

(I won this race but in all, he won 2 out of 3.)

Oh yes, have a cabin within a days drive from NYC area anyone?

We're looking to rent for a few days. Hopefully close to some kind of water.

Sunday in Brooklyn

Took the bus to Prospect Park.

Was kind of a long bus ride.

That shirt Vanja is wearing...I bought it in 05 or 06.
For myself. It's happening now - she's really wearing my clothes.

Swedish (perhaps all European?) blueberries are a bluish red on the inside, not white-ish green as here in the States. Every swede ever born has taken pic of him or her self with their tongues out like vampires. It's an ancient, respected tradition. In lieu of such berries ( I wrote lieu, I did it, it feels stupid but there, I tried it once) Niki's doing the tongue pic with the help of an artificially cherry flavored ice cream.

This is not a very good picture. But it's here because see this lady top right corner? We sat so close to her that we could smell all her super delicious barbecue dishes. She had two sun chairs out, a grill, a cooler, and lots of dishes. She cooked and cooked and no-one showed up for her amazing meal. Every now and then she read a little in a big fat study book.

After watching her cook for hours and a bit dizzy from the insanely appetizing aromas in the air thanks to this woman, I had to walk over to her and ask if she wanted me to watch her stuff if she needed to run some errands or LOOK FOR THE SPOILED PEOPLE WHO FAILED TO SHOW UP TO HER SUPER BARBECUE.

She just laughed and said "No no, I come her to do all my week's cooking on Sundays. It's much nicer to cook out here than to cook inside my hot apartment. Plus I can study in between. My mother always says she'll come to help me and she's here alright, somewhere but she never does help me with the cooking".

That woman, so impressive. That she also managed to study while barbecuing all those dishes - amazing.

In any Brooklyn Park: Yoga Show-Offs.
I call them this until I learn how to do what they're doing here and by then I will call them my BFF:s.

Barefoot in the park. With a ball. All good.

I tried to tell her wet wipes don't make great shoes but who listens to a mom?
